The art of the Embroidery to Ancona for Equipments and Linen for the house

In 1955, Ugo Capecchi, the Florentine owner of the “Città di Firenze” shop in Pescara, decides to open a shop in Ancona and looks for a manager who is also an expert in embroidery. Maria Ruti, a 23 year-old embroiderer, is chosen and the “Firenze Ricama” shop, where the finest sets of bed and kitchen linen in the city and province are bought, is inaugurated inside the new “Galleria Dorica” centre.

In 1958, the shop moves to Corso Garibaldi 118 and sold to the manager, who remains there until 1992 before handing it over to her daughter, Lorella Belvederesi. In 2004, the shop moves again to the current premises in Via Podesti 1/e, a side street of Corso Garibaldi.The small boutique is furnished in a sobre and elegant venetian-florentine style and continues to supply refined bed¬-linen, with hand-embroidered double sheets in pure linen, mixed linen or cotton; brightly-coloured sateen sets; beautifully hand-embroidered or tamboured bedcovers in piquè, with made embroidery by hand or to chassis (art.12).

For the house, hand and machine-embroidered rectangular, round and square table-cloths for 6, 8 or 12 people (art.15), made of linen, mixed linen and cotton; machine-embroidered, cotton tea-cloths depicting the city’s monuments such as “L’Arco di Costantino”, “Traiano” (art. 08), the Cathedral (art. 09), the “Teatro delle Muse” (art.11), or with fruit and vegetables (art.14 and 17). Layettes for newborn babies, with embroidered, pure linen bibs (art. 01 and 02), bibs in piquè (art. 03,04,05), good-luck hand-embroidered camisoles in pure silk (art. 07), all hand-embroidered batiste sheets for carry-cots and prams, cot sheets in the traditional style of florentine handcraft, all hand and machine-embroidered; parcels are also sent all over the world.
